With other team members taking part today in Exercise Autumn Gold, four team operational members travelled to our neighbour’s Base / Headquarters of Rossendale & Pendle MRT at Clegg Street, Haslingden, to take part in the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Course in Fall Protection Equipment Inspection, presented by members of the Cave Rescue Organisation, including CROs Equipment Officer Mike Clayton.
The course was kindly supported by our national body, Mountain Rescue England and Wales (MREW)
The course started off early morning with an introduction into the classifications of PPE and how to inspect and maintain such equipment (specifically distinguished between Textile Equipment, Metal Equipment & Plastic Components).
This was followed on by a briefing on the ways of record keeping, quarantine procedures & disposal of defective equipment.
The course ended with a written and practical assessment and we are happy to report that all four of our team members attending passed the PPE Course with flying colours
These consisted of team members Nick Berry, Mike Marsh, Michael Wakerley and Chris Tennant.
Also attending today were team members of Bowland Pennine MRT, Rossendale and Pendle MRT and Calder Valley SRT.
Nick, Mike, Michael and Chris would all like to pass on their thanks for the excellence of today’s course.
