Teenager Megan Brandon, St Cuthbert’s Rose Queen 2010-11, visited our Ladybridge Hall Base/HQ this evening to present a cheque donation to the Team as a result of fundraising throughout her year of service. Accompanying Megan was her Crown Bearer, Harry Robinson, aged 6 years, Harry’s mother Sue Brown, and Megan’s mother, Gillian Brandon.

The guests were welcomed by Team Chairman Craig Lamb, Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE and Secretary Gillian Gregory, all joined joined by other team members to chat to our visitors about the work of the Team. Megan explained that along with her retinue of Charlotte, Leona, Neekah, Amelia, and Amelia’s mum, Sharon, events had been held to raise money for their chosen charities – Bolton Mountain Rescue Team and the North West Air Ambulance. There had been coffee mornings, stalls at all the school fairs, and selling cakes. Charlotte’s mother, Catherine Collin completed a sponsored open water swim, and Megan’s father, John Brandon, raised funds by competing in the Ribble Valley triathlon.

Our guests then went outside into the courtyard to meet the rest of the Team, who were preparing to depart for their Wednesday evening training exercise, and surprised everyone by presenting a cheque donation to the Team for the marvellous total of £509.00. Our sincere thanks are extended to everyone involved in achieving this fantastic amount which is very much appreciated by the whole Team.

The same sum of £509.00 was raised for the North West Air Ambulance, which means the actual total raised was £1018.00, so very well done, Megan.

Megan was actually rescued by the Bolton MRT, when as a ten year old, she suffered a collapse on the moors above Roddlesworth, leading to the team, the North West Air Ambulance and the Ambulance Service all coming to her aid.
