Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

28th July 2011

As part of our long established and continuing links to the successful GMP Police Cadet scheme, this morning the team welcomed to its Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ twenty seven Police Cadets from the GMP Bolton Division Police Cadet summer 2011 scheme.

Arriving at 10.00hrs they were accompanied by their GMP Instructors, PC Patricia Shepherd, PC Bev Carolan, and PC Andy Vernon.

On hand to give them all a full mornings introduction to the work of the Bolton MRT and some practical ’hands on’ work with our comprehensive search and rescue equipment were Team Training Officer Elaine Gilliland, full team members Diane Blakeley and Matthew Hailwood, Trainee Team members John Dickinson, Naomi Horan, David Crawford and Tony Dawson.

Our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE joined the group a little later in the morning. (Webmaster; Does he ever turn up on time?)

The obviously very keen and interested Cadets were split into three groups, and ’rotated’ around workshops dealing with Trauma Care Equipment, Our Land Rovers and their attendant search and rescue equipment, and our stretchers and casualty handling.

At the end of these sessionsall the Cadets were then split into two groups and very ably and very successfully carried out two search and rescue practical exercises in the grounds of our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ.

The end of their visit was marked by our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE thanking all the Cadets for their enthusiastic interest in the team, and wishing all the Cadets well for their future intentions to be Police Officers.

Before leaving each Cadet (And their three Instructors) was presented with a Bolton MRT wristband, a Bolton MRT Car Supporter window sticker, an MREW Hill Safety Leaflet, a Light stick and a copy of the Mountain Rescue quarterly magazine.
