Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

7th October 2016

On Wednesday evening, 5th October 2016,  our Chairman, Gill Leigh, and other team members, were pleased to welcome several guests to our HQ.

Maureen & John Ashworth came to see us as representatives of the Rotary Club of Bolton Lever, and presented our Equipment Officer (Medical), Steve James, with a marvellous cheque for £500 which was raised through the Rotary Clubs’ involvement with the Ironman UK 2015 event held in Bolton. The local Bolton area Rotary Clubs organise watering stations for the Ironman participants and may then choose local charities to benefit from the event.

We very much appreciate this kind support of our work and thank Maureen and John for sparing the time to visit us and present the cheque.

We were also pleased to welcome Christine Coughlin and her sister to view the memorial plaque commissioned in memory of Christine’s late husband, Bernard,c-coughlin-with-plaque-5-10-16 who passed away earlier this year.  Christine is a member of Bolton CHA Walking Club and chose Bolton Mountain Rescue Team for donations in lieu of flowers at Bernard’s funeral and we are very grateful for her thoughtfulness at such a sad time.

mrs-allen-family-5-10-16Also visiting us was Mrs Edna Allen and her family, to view a memorial plaque in memory of her late husband, Michael John Allen, who died, aged 81, in July this year. Michael was a long term and well-respected member of Bolton CHA Walking Club and had made it known he wished Bolton Mountain Rescue Team to receive donations in lieu of flowers at his funeral.  We very much appreciate this kindness and value such wonderful donations towards our search and rescue work.

The memorial plaques will be fixed to our HQ lecture room wall, along with those already displayed, in memory and thanks. Thank you to all our guests for your interest in our work and kind support in such varied ways.
