Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

17th December 2016

You may remember back in October six members of our team took part in a Mod 2 course but were unable to complete the course due to low water levels.

Today, team members Kris Kilshaw, Dave Conn and James Shaw journeyed along with Chris Greenhalgh to Sowerby Bridge in Yorkshire to complete the course assessment. The venue was the River Calder at Halifax Canoe Club. Mick Smith from Calder Valley MRT was the instructor, again assisted by his colleague Howard Barton.

All remaining practical elements of the course were completed including hydrology, defensive and aggressive swimming, throw lines and dealing with strainers. It was good to see the water level this time was perfect for us and we are pleased to report all three team members passed the assessment.

We would like to thank both course instructors Mick Smith and Howard Barton for a very enjoyable and informative course. The plan is to return in the new year to complete the training for the remaining three team members.
