Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

8th February 2017

Today the team was joined by response officers from Greater Manchester Police for a training day.  The session is one which the team has already undertaken with several groups of officers from GMP to give an insight into how the team is organised and operates with it’s main partner agencies (Police, Fire and Ambulance).

Team member Mark Scott leads the days on our behalf and he introduced the officers to our call out procedure, personal kit we carry and then the group was given an introduction to some of our casualty care equipment, specifically our trauma packs, Kendrick traction splints and T-Pod responder pelvic splints along with vacuum mattress and splints.

Here the group is being shown how to apply the pelvic splint and Kendrick Traction Splint

Use of the Vac Mat for patients requiring spinal immobilisation is the gold standard in trauma care. It’s also useful for taking revenge on your colleagues !!

The group then were shown around one of our Land Rover ambulances and the kit carried as well as our SAR alpine lite stretcher and how we carry a casualty on it.  The whole group then moved to Winter Hill summit to take part in a small rescue exercise where the police officers assessed the casualty, treated their injuries and once loaded onto the stretcher carried them to the vehicles and the exercise was concluded with a quick debrief.  We would like to thank the officers from Bolton Central Police Station for coming and spending time with the rescue team and we are sure this will lead to a much closer working relationship on live incidents which will ultimately benefit the public.
