Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

17th April 2011

This afternoon at 13:44 the team was contacted by NWAS (Lancashire) Emergency Control and the NWAS (NWAA) Air Desk who were requesting our assistance at an incident in Rivington.

With team vehicles already out in the area and other members at our Ladybridge Hall Base, an immediate response was made.

The call was to the report of an injured motorcyclist in the vicinity of Rivigton Hall Barn, Lever Park, Rivington. On arrival at the accident scene, it was established that the 66 year old male motorcyclist had suffered a very painful knee injury.

Team vehicles arrived on scene very shortly after the arrival of NWAA Helimed 72 from City Airport Manchester.

The Helimed Paramedics splinted the man’s injured leg with painkilling gas being administered. 11 team members then stretcher-evacuated the man to the Air Ambulance which departed with the man on board at 14:32 for Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Due to the very large number of interested onlookers the team was also requested to provide a safety perimiter cordon whilst the helicopter took off.
