Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

30th May 2017

This evening Team Leader Alistair Greenough and Assistant Team Leader Nigel Booth attended a meeting with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service at Bury Community Fire Station along with colleagues from Oldham MRT to discuss the role and response of teams within Greater Manchester to wild fires on the local moors.

When deployed teams will provide logistical support for fire crews on the moors,  safety cover and evacuation ability in the event of illness or injury and due to being very familiar with the areas provide a great deal of local knowledge which can be incredibly helpful when dealing with these incidents.

Also discussed was integrating the teams into the fire service control vehicle/mobile fire station which follows the principle of JESIP co-location of responders to provide an integrated response. The meeting was led by Martin Foran from GMFRS.  Once a guideline is finalised it should allow for even closer working than previously with our statutory partners.
