This evening 144 runners participated in the annual Hendersons End Fell Race.
The race is organised by Lostock Athletics Club and starts at Rivington Top Barn, climbing to Rivington Pike (twice!), Two Lads, Smithills Shooting Hut and the TV Mast station, before returning to the Rivington Top Barn. The route this year was an amended route from previous years due to recent changes to access rules on Winter Hill.
19 team members supported the race with vehicles placed strategically across the course.
There was one minor call on our services, where we transported a runner who had pulled a hamstring back to their car.
Whilst we were out this evening, the team also bumped into the Bolton Rotary at Lower House car park who had organised a litter pick on the moors. Despite one of the organisers saying there wasn’t that much rubbish on the moor as a litter pick had been undertaken a few weeks earlier, the group managed to collect over a dozen black bin bags of rubbish!
