Towards the end of the Prestwich Challenge event, our Team Leader was informed about an incident in the area of our neighbouring team Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team. With all our vehicles already crewed and ready, one team vehicle was requested to attend the incident in the Accrington area.
Four team members attended the incident near The Hollins Technology College.
A woman had been visiting a friend who lived in the area. They had gone out walking, where unfortunately she slipped falling about 4m into a river bed.
The joint teams of NWAS, air ambulance, Rossendale & Pendle MRT, Bowland Pennine MRT and Bolton MRT loaded the woman onto a stretcher and a rope system was constructed to haul the woman back on to the main path. The woman was carried to a waiting ambulance, who then transferred to the North West Air Ambulance, which had landed nearby.
The team would like to wish the woman a speedy recovery.
