Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

18th December 2010

With Lancashire Constabulary aware that the team was on Base HQ standby, we were contacted at circa 01:50 hours in the morning, during continuing heavy snowfall, by Silver Command Lancashire Constabulary requesting the team to assist with checking (and the potential evacuation of vulnerable persons) of drivers and passengers stuck on the M6 motorway in very heavy snowfall.

23 team members in 4 team vehicles and 2 team members 4x4s responded to the Charnock Richard motorway services on the M6 to RV with a small fleet of Lancashire Constabulary 4×4 patrol vehicles.

In mixed convoys with police vehicles the team was split into two convoys covering large sections of the M6 and M61 motorway network.

This incident was concluded at 07:30 hours in the morning.
