Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

7th October 2010

This afternoon Team President Bob Hutchinson (A former Team Leader of the Bolton MRT) and Team Life Vice President Tony McNally, journeyed to Lowton St Mary’s School, to give a presentation on the work of the team to the Year 5 pupils.

Each year, each year class at the school sponsors a local charity, involving a link up with local businesses who suggest and plan with the children how they can raise money to support their chosen charity.

Last year the pupils of Year 1 at Lowton St Mary’s School kindly supported us, raising the fantastic sum of £160.00 for the team, with £2,400.00 being raised for local charities overall by the school. (See website ’news’ article dated Wednesday 14th July 2009)

Tony and Bob took along with them one of the teams Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances, which of course the year 5 pupils found fascinating as was the chance to get to ’play’ with a lot of the search and rescue equipment which is carried on the vehicle which attended.

Tony and Bob both reported they had had a great afternoon at the school and that all the children said they thoroughly enjoyed the visit by the team.

The whole team wishes to thank all at Lowton St Mary’s School, Leigh, for their thoughtfulness in once again very kindly agreeing to support the work of the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
