Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

12th September 2010

Today saw 18x Full team Callout Members and 8x Support Group members travel to City Airport Manchester, (Barton) to display at this years City Airport Open Day and Fly in.

This was the City Airports third Open Day and Fly in of recent years, and thankfully the rain stayed away for most of the day, with the sun and blue skies present most of the time encouraging a large number of visitors to the airport.

Besides the light aircraft and helicopters present, and ’flying in,’ there was also a large amount of other attractions, including a funfair, GMFRS with two Fire Appliances, GMP with a Motorway Traffic Patrol vehicle, car boot sales, stalls, local charities and airport tours. The airport based NWAA Helimed 72 and the GMP Air Support Unit helicopter also attended, being called out to various incidents throughout the day.

Travelling with our full contingent of team vehicles, including our four Land Rover Ambulances, the team minibus, our boat and control and catering trailers, the team gave a full display including demonstrations of how vacuum splints work, the correct CPR proceedure with ResusiAnnie dolls and the ever popular sitting in one of our Land Rover Ambulances and turning on the blue lights and sirens.

The Support Group put on their usual cake and 2nd hand book stalls, with the mountain of cakes all being quickly sold out by midday.

In total, between the cake stall, the book stall and many very kind donations throughout the day, the team raised the grand sum of £333.85.

Reviewing the CPR session

The team would like to thank City Airport Manchester for their kind invitation to us to attend, as well as all the visitors who took the time to visit and talk to the team about the work we do.
