As most team members were in bed or about to go to bed after a particularly hard Wednesday night exercise (On the Red Rocks crag overlooking the River Croal, Little Lever) we were paged at 23.55hrs by Lancashire Constabulary with a request to assist them in an urgent search centred on the Sunnyhurst Wood area of Darwen, and the tracks leading on to Darwen Moor.
A 32 years old Darwen man was missing from his home address in circumstances giving the Police concern for his well being.
His abandoned motorbike had been located at Sunnyhurst Wood on the fringe of Darwen Moor, and we were requested to search this area.
A full team call out was paged at 00.01hrs with team members initially tasked to RV at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ whilst our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE and Deputy Team Leader Geoff Seddon journeyed directly to Darwen Police Station to meet with a Police Missing Person Search Manager.
With a Team vehicle mobile to Darwen with five members on board and many others assembling at our Base / HQ we were informed by Lancashire Constabulary that they had located the missing person, safe and well and that the team was no longer required.
A stand down pager call was sent at 00.23hrs by which time nineteen Bolton MRT team members were responding to this incident.
