Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

30th May 2010

On February 24th this year, the team received an email off Mrs Jayne Bayliss of Adlington, who informed us she was undertaking a challenging walk in the summer of this year, and that she wished to use the walk, which she is undertaking with friends, as an opportunity to raise some sponsorship for the team.

In subsequent conversation with our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, Jayne informed Garry that an idea which first took root with her many years ago was now possible, namely to walk from her home in Adlington near Chorley, across all the local moors, then across the moors to the north of Rochdale and eventually on to Haworth in Yorkshire, The Trans-Pennine Trail .

Tonight we wish Jayne and her friends all the best for their early morning start to their walk tomorrow, Monday 31st May 2010 starting off at around 07.30hrs from Adlington. Jayne recently updated our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE on her walk and the monies pledged so far;

    We are starting at Adlington, and off straight away over Rivington Pike and onto Darwen Tower with our accommodation booked at Ramsbottom some 20 miles away, Tuesday 1st June is taking us to Hebden Bridge some 21+ miles finally reaching Haworth on Wednesday 2nd June after a mere 14 miles ! At present I have in excess of £500.00 pledged so I am really pleased with this, with £200.00 actually collected to date in advance of the successful completion of our walk.

The whole team passes on its best wishes and good luck to Jayne and of course her friends accompanying her, in agreeing to undertake this fantastic fundraising walk on behalf of the team, and we are all keeping our fingers crossed for good weather over the next three days.
