Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

7th May 2010

The team is currently in the process of looking into the replacement of our current Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles, three of which were purchased some ten and a half years ago, with the fourth Land Rover slightly younger in age.

Alongside this we are also concurrently determining our future vehicle needs, including looking into the purchase of a Control Vehicle to replace our Control Trailer, and continuing with the use of a Minibus within the team.

We have been in very close liaison with our colleagues in Oldham MRT and Rossendale and Pendle MRT who are also looking at replacing some of their Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances, with a view to the placement of one order on behalf of all three teams and a common vehicle fit regards exterior and interior modifications and livery.

As part of this current project within the team, five members today journeyed to the HQ of Langdale Ambleside MRT to view their new Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance four vehicle fleet, which is to the general specification we are looking at purchasing, and from the same dealership all three teams are considering utilising.

Our five consisted of our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, President (and former Team Leader 1980-1983) Bob Hutchinson, Life Vice President Tony McNally, Training Officer Elaine Gilliland, and long serving team member Neil Aspinall.
They were met by Langdale Ambleside MRT Team Leader Nick Owen, who kindly spent the early afternoon demonstrating his teams vehicles, and explaining how his team had arrived at the specifications they ordered.

Their visit concluded with a tour of LAMRTs HQ with Nick Owen having then to get back to work and our five having to journey back home, now thanks to Nick Owen, armed with a much greater understanding of what we require to be fitted to our new vehicles.
