Whilst in the later stages of providing standby Rescue cover for the annual Winter Hill Fell Race (See separate news item), at 13.25hrs team member Michael O’Brien at Lower House Car Park, Rivington, was approached by a member of the public reporting her brother in difficulty nearby requiring the teams assistance.
The woman reported that her brother was in the vicinity of Seven Arch Bridge, within the Terraced Gardens at Rivington, and with many team members nearby at Lower House Car Park, an appropriate and quick team response was possible.
A very quick search in the vicinity of the reported incident located the injured 52 years old man from Bolton, who had possibly suffered a calf muscle / ligament injury.
He was treated on scene by team member Alistair Greenough, an A & E Nurse when not out with the team, and was then transported back down in our BM3 Land Rover MR Ambulance to meet up with his sister and their car at Lower House Car Park.
The man was advised to go to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
In total 12x team members were involved directly in this incident, which was concluded in just over an hour.
