Today the team attended the GMFRS Farnworth Fire Station Open Day, which this year was in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity and for Bolton Firefighter Steve Morris, who was badly injured in a fire in June 2008.
In total 13 full team members attended with 3 of our Mountain Rescue Landrover Ambulances and our Control Trailer, joined by 2.5 members of our Support Group (the 0.5 being Support Group member Hazel Kennedys nephew, Jordan), joining a large crowd of people to enjoy the display put on by all at Farnworth Fire Station.
The fire fighters put on displays including removing a car roof following a mock road traffic accident, alongside fire fighting displays by GMFRS Fire Cadets (aged 14 – 16)
A very special guest visitor to our stand was GMFRS Chief Fire Officer Barry Dixon who is retiring from this demanding post at the end of summer.

The team had many visitors to its display, with many photos being taken of children sat in the front of our Landrover Ambulances.

- Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum including a Dennis Metz Ladder Platform Appliance from the museum
- Greater Manchester Police
- British Red Cross, with their family support vehicle
- Celebrities Rebecca Atkinson & Ben Batt from the TV show Shameless and Paddy McGuiness
- ’Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’
- Numerous fundraising side shows
