Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

21st June 2009

Today 26x team members were present to provide standby rescue cover and casualty care provision for the annual Horwich Carnival Races. (see seperate news item)

Although our services were not required by any of the event competitors, we did respond to two street collapses within the race cordon area, both involving women, a 45 year old and a 78 year old. Team members initially treated both women with oxygen, and monitored their condition.

The more senior of the two women involved was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital by an NWAS (Greater Manchester) Emergency Ambulance called to the scene by our event Control.

A third incident involved the team dealing with a 9 months old boy who had been scalded on his arm in an unfortunate accident in a cafe near to one of our vehicle locations. He was treated for arm burns and transferred to hospital by an NWAS (Greater Manchester) Emergency Ambulance called to the event by our event Control.
