Three team Landrover Mountain Rescue Ambulances were in the team area when the local United Utilities Ranger at 14.46hrs alerted the team to a motorcycle RTC in the Rivington area.
Our Team Leader contacted NWAS (Lancashire) control to pass on the information and established that a 999 call had been received minutes earlier, Ambulance Control were also informed that two team Landrovers were responding from a nearby location.
Our BM1 and BM2 vehicles arrived on scene at the Horrobin Lane, Rivington, RTC location at 14.50hrs, just as the NWAS (Lancashire) Emergency Ambulance arrived.
In view of the narrow road location and the heavy Sunday visitor traffic, our team members were deployed on traffic control and road safety, being joined by Lancashire Constabulary Officers.
The male rider of the motorcycle was uninjured, but his female pillion passenger suffered a fractured leg and suspected back injuries.
By 15.30hrs the accident was cleared and the road reopened.
