Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

10th May 2008

On this glorious warm but slightly overcast early summer day, 24 team members provided standby rescue cover for the Belmont Village Winter Hill fell races.

There were 3 races in total. Juniors, with 39 competitors, starting at 12.00 and the Trial Race with 42 competitors, starting at 12.30 – both taking in a course on the slopes and to the summit of Winter hill. At 13:15 the main senior event took place, with 265 competitors, taking a route up to the summit of Winter Hill across to Noon Hill, along Belmont Road, down to Moor Bottom and back up to the summit of Winter Hill, before making their way back down the slopes to the finish.

Its a long hot race today…..

Aside from a couple of twisted ankles everybody completed the event without mishap. The team is very happy to continue its long association with this well-established event.

Another shot of runners on this glorious day..
