Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

18th November 2007

At 13:49 today the team received a pager notification from NWAS (Lancashire Area) that Helimed 08 (North West Air Ambulance helicopter) was on route to an incident in the Rivington Moor/Winter Hill area.

Team members already at our base and those already out in the area were immediately despatched to assist if Helimed was unable to land close to the female casualty, who was reported to have collapsed.

Upon arrival, along the Winter Hill TV Mast road, it was established from NWAS (LA) that Helimed had been able to land on the moor immediately next to the casualty and was able to airlift her direct to hospital.

The 10 team members responding in 3 Bolton MRT Landrover Ambulances and the Toyota Hi Lux vehicle (on trial with the team) were immediately stood down as not required.

(We understand GMP Air Support Unit Helicopter, India 99, was also initially despatched to this incident, but stood down as not required.)
