Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

26th January 2007

At 06.30 this morning our Team Leader was contacted by GMP regards the teams assistance with the developing search for a missing 10 year old Leigh boy.
The child had been reported missing late on the evening of Thursday 25th January and routine Police enquiries quickly turned into a search operation which became escalated to involve the team.

At 06.51hrs the team was paged to go to standby followed by a call for all immediately available team members to assemble at our Ladybridge Hall Base, paged at 07.37hrs.

11 team members were available to respond straightaway, with both our Team Leader and Deputy Leader going direct to Leigh Police Station to liaise directly with GMP Missing Person Search Managers and formulate a search area plan, following on from the overnight and early morning Police ’hasty’ searches.
Other GMP resources were being drafted in, along with the GMP ASU helicopter “India 99” being readied to take part in the search, when news came from GMP Offficers that the missing 10 year old boy had been safely located.

Our involvement in this search was stood down at 09.00hrs on the morning of Friday 26th January.
