Early this evening our Team Leader was contacted directly by NWAS (ML) Belle Vue Control, regards any immediate assistance the Team could offer NWAS in 999 incidents within the Greater Manchester area that were impacting heavily on the immediate resources of NWAS.
Our colleagues in St John Ambulance Brigade had already been contacted and were mobilising. Following a full pager call for any Team members who were available at 18:40 Hrs, given this festive period, we were able to offer two of our Land Rover Ambulances to NWAS, fully crewed with appropriate trained members from 19:30 Hrs.
Our first call came in at 20:20 Hrs (Our incident 171) and the last call of the evening being answered at 21:49 Hrs (our incident 176).
The calls included 3 Code Amber & 3 Code Red incidents, in the Farnworth, Moses Gate, Westhoughton & Bolton Areas, including one Road Traffic Collision.
As usual the Team worked alongside and received excellent support from NWAS Emergency Ambulance Crews & NWAS Rapid Response Vehicle Crews. It goes without saying that we also received the usual high level of information & support from all the staff at NWAS Paramedic Emergency Control, Belle Vue, Manchester, who are the first recipients of the 999 calls and are then tasked with dispatching the appropriate resource from those available, which on busy evenings like tonight is a very demanding task.
