Tonight in place of our usual weekly training exercise a Special General Meeting was held specifically to elect 3 council posts, as vacancies had arisen following a number of recent changes to the team membership, due the changing personal circumstances of the previous officers in post.
Up for election were the positions of Chairman, Secretary and Equipment Officer (Vehicles). 35 team members attended the meeting.
The first post up for election was that of Chairman, and Ken Oakes was elected by the membership. Ken, a retired Police Inspector, has been an operational member of the team since May 1996. He brings plenty of experience to this demanding post and we wish him well in the future.
Gillian Gregory, a member of the team’s Support Group since its formation in March 2005, was elected to the post of team Secretary and will take on the responsibilities of organising lectures, taking minutes of meetings, and dealing with general team correspondance.
Finally, Chris Greenhalgh, a callout list member since February 2002, was elected to the post of Equipment Officer (Vehicles). Chris had already taken on the responsibilities of this post in the previous weeks (on a caretaker basis), and now has the right of a vote at council meetings to go along with a grease ridden uniform!
