The team was contacted directly by United Utilities ranger service to inform us of an accident in the Rivington area to a horse rider. A team member nearby in the area responded to the incident at the rear of Rivington & Blackrod High School, Rivington. At the same time, the team leader was in liaison with LAS Control regarding the same call. LAS Control had despatched an ambulance and Helimed 08.

Our locally based team member was on-scene very quickly and established that the ambulance could access the scene directly. The team was stood down as not required, alongside Helimed 08. The 52 year old horse rider who had been riding with a friend suffered a possible head injury and was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital by LAS.
