Tonight we were pleased to welcome to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ an interested group of young visitors from 41st Lostock Brownies. The 16x Brownies and 4x leaders were met by experienced Team members Gill Leigh, Ana Toole, Steve O’Hara and Trainee Team member Michael Wakerley.
The 41st Lostock Brownies have visited the team before, and tonight they were welcomed back, albeit with many new faces since their last visit.
The evening began with Gill giving a quick talk on the work of the Team followed by a short film showing the types of situations we deal with.
Following this the Brownies spilt into two groups, one to explore the Team vehicles, its equipment, lights and sirens, whilst the other group put the mountain rescue stretcher together and had a try at carrying an ‘injured’ Brownie.
This visit was the conclusion of a range of work carried out over a number of months where the Brownies had undertaken several fundraising activities such as car boot sales, pyjama walks and cake sales. This had resulted in the marvellous amount of £305.00 being raised, which was then presented to the Team in the form of a very welcome cheque. To top this off buns were shared around, kindly baked by one of the Brownies.
We would like to take this opportunity once again, to pass on our heartfelt thanks to all involved from 41st Lostock Brownies in raising this magnificent donation of £305.00 for us tonight.
The thoughtful support from 41st Lostock Brownies over recent years is truly appreciated by all in the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
Please also see website ‘News’ reports dated Monday 16th July 2007, when the 41st Lostock Brownies visited us and made a very kind £151.00 donation, and Monday 19th July 2010, when they visited us and made a fantastic £160.00 donation to us.
The final word goes to Gill Leigh; “It was amazing the amount of effort they had put into raising this very kind donation for us. The Leaders said they always love coming as it is such a good night out for them and the Brownies. Their donation ‘blew my socks off‘!” (Webmaster – only Gill could make a statement like this)
