Our readers will recall that on Good Friday this year (March 25th) the team was called to an incident on the slopes of Rivington Pike, where a young boy had fallen down the side of the steep slopes and had fractured his leg very close to the knee.
Working alongside GMP, GMAS and Helimed 08, he was airlifted to Royal Bolton Hospital and subsequently made a full recovery.
The team was amazed to hear that Matthew (our casualty) and his family had taken it upon themselves to raise some money for the team, in the form of a Bolton Wanderers pennant which had been autographed by members of the football team. The pennant was raffled and raised £100 – and the raffle winner even donated the pennant back to the family!
Matthew and his family were invited to come along to our base tonight to present a cheque to the team, and they were met by Chairman Tony McNally, Team Leader Garry Rhodes, and Treasurer Mark Scott.

After a quick photocall for the Bolton Evening News press photographer, Matthew was shown a short video of the incident (which showed things from our perspective). The family thanked us for our assistance during the incident, and hoped not to see us again in similar circumstances in the future!
