At 13:43 the Team Leader was contacted by GMAS regarding the report of a 17 year old female who was suffering from chest pains in the vicinity of Winter Hill.

A full team pager call went out at 13:46 resulting in a 4 team vehicle immediate response. NWAA Helimed 08 had also been called to the scene along with a GMAS emergency ambulance, a paramedic response vehicle and two GMP divisional vans

The teenager involved was with a group of students on a navigation exercise from a Manchester college when she took ill. Helimed 08 was able to land close to the girl’s position and airlifted her from the moorland to the ambulance roadhead at Winter Hill summit, where she was taken by road ambulance to the Royal Bolton Hospital.
