Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

28th April 2005

At 11:40 this morning our SARDA handler, Dave Marsh was requested by GMP to assist with a bankside search of the River Tame, at Brinnington, Reddish Vale, following a report of an upturned kayak, trapped in a weir, spotted by 2 young children on their way to school. Both children thought they had seen a face in the water, and a Police search was instigated.

Our handler’s involvement, alongside that of a GMP dog unit, was negative and the search was concluded early afternoon to be replaced by searches planned by the Police Underwater Search Unit. We believe this search inconclusive and the whole event has been put down to a false alarm, with good intent call.
