At 17:33, GMP called out the team to assist in an urgent search for 3 missing young children in the Irlam area of Greater Manchester. The children had been reported missing to the Police at around 16:00 hours, and GMP launched an immediate search of the surrounding area involving local officers and their Air Support Unit helicopter. With a negative immediate result, the close proximity of open land, the nearby Manchester Ship Canal, and darkness about to fall, the search was expanded to include Mountain Rescue. 29 Bolton MRT members responded including our SARDA unit and 3 persons from the team’s kayak unit. Fortunately the three children were located soon after our involvement, by GMP, and the team was stood down at 18:11.
