Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

1st June 2013

Today a large number of Fire Brigade Society members visited GMFRS Bolton Central Fire Station (Before going on to GMFRS Bolton North Fire Station) to photograph the various Fire Appliances based at Bolton Central.

Our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE was approached recently regards this visit, by Steven Dodge, Assistant General Secretary of the Fire Brigade Society, with a view to the FBS members visiting Bolton Central Fire Station today to also request permission to photograph our two Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles (BM2 and BM4) based there.

Not only was our Team Leader happy to oblige, but he also arranged for our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ based vehicles to also attend.

This morning, team members Dave Cook, Tony Dawson and Nigel Booth (In full time employment, a GMFRS Watch Manager at GMFRS Bolton North Fire Station) met the Fire Brigade Society members at Bolton Central Fire Station, with all four of our Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles attending, alongside our Ford Transit Minibus / crewbus Ambulance and our 3.5 metre semi rigid inflatable SAR Boat.

Unfortunately we could not arrange for our brand new Incident Control Vehicle to attend, as essential commissioning works were being carried out on it today.

We understand the Fire Brigade Society members found our vehicles very interesting, and all thanked Dave, Tony and Nigel for their time given to their visit today.

We would also like to thank Ian Bailey, GMFRS Bolton Borough Manager, and Steve Parkinson, GMFRS Bolton Central Fire Station Manager, for their help and permission in allowing us to display all our vehicles at GMFRS Bolton Central Fire Station today for the visit of the Fire Brigade Society.
