Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

9th May 2013

Tonight we hosted a visit to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ by a pack of eighteen Beavers and three leaders from St Joseph’s, Anderton, as part of their Community Badge.

They were welcomed by very experienced long serving Team member Gill Leigh, our Equipment Officer (Medical) Nigel Booth and young Team member Kris Kilshaw.
The evening began with a talk from Gill Leigh explaining the work of the Team, followed by a short film about Mountain Rescue.

The Beavers then split into their two lodges, first to explore one of our two Base / HQ garaged Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles, its equipment and blue flashing lights and sirens. Next they learned how to prepare a mountain rescue stretcher ready to carry an ‘unsuspecting’ Beaver and how heavy it is to carry.

The evening concluded with the Beavers feeling they had gone a long way to fulfil the requirements of their badge. Good luck with the rest of it!
