Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

17th September 2013

Last week our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE was on a hill walking holiday in Scotland, and taking a break along with this partner Ann, he visited Edinburgh for a spot of sightseeing.

Whilst visiting the delightful and very historic Parish Church of St Cuthbert, on Lothian Road, just at the end of the famous Princess Street Gardens, Garry was struck by all the various messages and prayers adorning the interior walls of this church on ‘post it notes’ and similar.

Two prayers particularly took his notice, both on the same paper and both anonymous, and are reproduced here;

FOR THE EMERGENCY SERVICES

Lord God

Be with those in the emergency services

When they are called out

Let the traffic part before them

Keep them safe from harm

Under the shadow of your protecting wings

May their hands be your hands

Of healing and comfort

So that they are able to help

All those to whom they are called

ON HEARING EMERGENCY SIRENS

Lord

Be with them

Wherever they are going

Keep them from harm

Be with them whoever

They are called to

May they be able to help them
