Usually held quarterly, the GMESLG serves to unite all the statutory emergency Services working in Greater Manchester with the mountain rescue teams which assist them, discussing procedures, incidents, developments and items of mutual interest.

Each participating organisation takes their turn at hosting the meeting, and this evening we hosted the proceedings at our suitably festive decorated Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ alongside Christmas fare on offer.

The following were present or represented at tonight’s meeting; NWAS (GMA) Mountain Rescue Liaison Officer, GMP Force Incident Control Room, GMP Missing Person Search Managers, Bolton MRT, Rossendale and Pendle MRT, Kinder MRT, Glossop MRT, Oldham MRT and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.

The meeting commenced at 19.30hrs finishing at 21.10hrs, with Bolton MRT members present including our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, Equipment Officer – Medical Nigel Booth, and Michael Eddleston.

The next scheduled GMESLG meeting will be in June 2014, hosted by Oldham MRT., at their Uppermill Base / HQ.
