On Thursday 28th November 2013, we reported within our website ‘News’ that
on Wednesday 28th November 2012, our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE was notified by Gilbert Stephens Solicitors of Ottery St Mary, Devon, that we had been left the residue of the estate of the late Ian Casson.
On Thursday 28th November 2013, our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE received from Gilbert Stephens Solicitors details of the provisional Estate Account of the late Ian Casson, and a substantial bequest of £20,000.00 to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, representing the bulk of the funds due to the team.
The entire Bolton MRT membership at the time extended its gratitude to the very kind extremely supportive thoughtful support of the late Mr Ian Casson.
Mr Ian Casson’s memory and wonderful support of the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team will be acknowledged by a Dedication Plaque to his ever lasting memory which will be erected in our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ.
We understand that Mr Ian Casson was born in Blackburn, going on to become a long term resident of Devon, up to his death on 12th November 2012.
Other than these few details the Bolton MRT has no other information regarding Mr Casson, and as a result we are obviously keen to try and find out some background to this very kind man, who has proved so supportive of us.
We are grateful to todays edition of the ‘Bolton News,’ newspaper, for publishing details of this wonderful bequest, alongside a request to its readership to get in touch with us if they know anything about the kindly Mr Ian Casson.
