Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

13th April 2013

Today the team held a full day collection at the ASDA Store at Atherleigh Way, Leigh, with thanks to the staff and management of the store for agreeing and allowing us to hold such a collection. (Especially Cathy Jones at ASDA, Atherleigh Way)
ASDA are fantastic supporters of the team, having sponsored a considerable amount of team member clothing items, including winter thermal salopettes and summer waterproof overtrousers for all members, and full sets of essential water team PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

The Bolton MRT regularly operates in the Leigh and surrounding areas, which although very definitely ‘lowlands,’ have extensive areas of open land and woodland (Both agricultural, estates and former – now reclaimed coal tips) canals and lakes (Flashes in the local parlance)

We are also often tasked by GMP to deal with missing person searches in this area, and by NWAS (Manchester) to support them and the emergency activities of the Air Ambulance on incidents in this area (See Incident 52, Monday 1st April 2013, for the most recent example of such work in this area)

As ever our fantastic Support Group members were there at the store collecting, alongside Team Call Out List member (And Trainee Search Dog Handler) Paul Chisholm with his Trainee Search Dog Bella, and Trainee Team member Ashley Kelshaw.

Our Team Support Group members present included Gillian Gregory, Sarah Hindle, Steve James, Andrew Keyworth, Amanda Strickleton (and her daughter Rosie Strickleton) and Laura Tunnicliffe.

With thanks to all the kind shoppers who supported us today we can announce that we collected the fantastic sum of £277.28p today, besides generating the usual huge amount of goodwill and best wishes extended to the team for its work supporting the local community.
