At 00.30hrs in the early hours of this morning, Kinder MRT were called out to help Derbyshire Constabulary in the search for a local male resident who had gone missing from the New Mills area.
The search intensified over the next 14 hours with many different Mountain Rescue Teams, Search dog assets and Police Support Units being called upon to assist as the search area widened.
At circa 07.30hrs this morning during this search operation, our specialist SARDA Mountain Rescue Trailing Dog Boris and his handler Steve Nelson (From Bolton MRT and a member of SARDA Wales) were contacted for their assistance.
Steve left his home at 09.30hrs for the search RVP, and during the search operation followed a number of ‘trails’ with Search Dog Boris.
Steve returned home at 15.30hrs, following a successful ending to the search when the missing man was safely located by mountain rescue personal involved.
The search took place around New Mills, Hayfield, the lower slopes of Kinder and high up on to the Kinder plateau.
Mountain rescue Teams involved included Kinder, Buxton, Edale, Woodhead and Oldham.
Six SARDA Dog teams from SARDA England (PDMRO) and SARDA Wales (Our Steve and Boris) were involved.
Police resources included a helicopter from the National Police Air Service.
