The whole team membership extends Birthday Congratulations to our President Bob Hutchinson, on reaching the grand (Webmaster; Old) age of the Big 70
Bob, or Robert S. Hutchinson to give him his Sunday best name, joined the team in 1980, and was our Team Leader from 13th March 1981 to 12th March 1983, also serving the Team as our Chairman and Deputy Team Leader at various times.
Within our regional Mountain Rescue Organisation, the MPSRO, Bob has at various times been its Chairman and for a long period its Secretary.
In 2002, Bob received the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal for Emergency Service workers (Mountain Rescue), and in 2012 the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal 1952 – 2012 for Emergency Service workers (Mountain Rescue).
He has been awarded an MREW 25 Years Long Service to Mountain Rescue Certificate, and an MPSRO 30 Years Long Service to Mountain Rescue Certificate.
Bob has been an active mountaineer in the past with many challenging walks under his belt in the Scottish Highlands, and still gets out and about for a weekly all day hill walk.
Bob remains an active member of Bolton MRT and still attends operational call outs, where his knowledge and wisdom are much appreciated.
Bob also acts as the link between our fantastic Support Group and the operational Call Out list membership of the team.
Alongside his wife, Janet, he is currently enjoying his 70th Birthday present – a holiday in Iceland.
Happy Birthday Bob – one time known as Hutch in the team (there are other names as well, but not for the eyes of our readership!)
