During this years Winter Hill Fell Race on Sunday 10th February, (See website ‘news’ report dated the same) we provided a little bit of help to Mrs Karon Forster, a runner who retired from this gruelling event at Race Checkpoint 3 (Situated at the base of the track from Winter Hill summit to the San Marino Restaurant, Belmont)
Karon is familiar to us as she was the unfortunate casualty we dealt with at Cadshaw Castle Rocks, when she had a climbing accident on Good Friday 2011 (See wesbite ‘news’ report, Incident 31/2011, dated Friday 22nd April 2011)
Since this time Karon and her family have become valued friends and supporters of the team, and shortly after the Winter Hill Fell Race, Karon left a kind comment for us within the ‘Guestbook’ pages of our website (Please see our Guestbook)
Today we are happy to report the receipt of a card from Karon Forster, stating;
“Dear Bolton MRT.
Many thanks for your jolly company from CP3 of the Winter Hill Race on the 10th February and the very welcome mini-bus (Webmaster, our BM5 vehicle) ride back to race HQ. Much appreciated! Ankle almost back to full strength. hope the enclosed donation of £20.00 is some compensation for your time and trouble,
best wishes Karon.”
The whole team membership would like to thank Karon for this kind donation.
In related news, Karon’s teenage daughter Rebecca has kindly volunteered to help the team and in particular our operational and trainee search dogs, in the role of an ‘exercise casualty.’
