Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

17th February 2013

Today the Team received a visit from long standing supporter Gary Melia, proprietor of the The Barber Shop in Radcliffe. Gary brought along with him his son Harry (age 4) and friend Jonathan Garlick with his sons William (8) and Tom (5) and they were greeted by our President Bob Hutchinson and long serving team member Mike Marsh. The adults found the tour of the base and chats about the work of the team very interesting whilst the younger ones couldn’t wait to get in the vehicles. A short video from the British and Irish Mountain Rescue Conference was shown then it was time to look at the vehicles.

Everyone was amazed at the amount of equipment carried and Gary, a keen Land Rover owner was particularly interested in the new Defenders and especially the winches on them. Photos were taken and Gary insisted on one with his Land Rover alongside one of the Team vehicles. After an enjoyable hour or so it was time to leave and at this point Gary produced a giant bag of Yorkshire tea bags for the Team’s use (some of us hardened tea drinkers will really look forward to those) and a bottle of wine as a thank you for the visit. The whole Team wishes to thank Gary for his support and hopes this visit will not be his last.
