Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

Held at the excellent facilities of Burrs Activity Centre at Burrs Country Park, Bury, todays MPSRO Joint Training Day was organised by MPSRO Training Officer Elaine Gilliland, a Bolton MRT Team Call Out list member.

MPSRO – Mid Pennine Search and Rescue Organisation, is the regional Mountain Rescue Organisation to which the Bolton MRT belongs, including MRTs operating in the Bowland Fells, the East Lancashire Moors, West Pennine Moors, South Pennines and North Western Peak District , as well as the wider areas of Greater Manchester, Lancashire and West Yorkshire.

The day consisted of group workshop sessions with Instructors and Facilitators drawn from Bowland Pennine MRT and Bolton MRT, including Elaine, Steve Nelson and John Fletcher (Our Equipment Officer Water)

Commencing at 10.00hrs, the group sessions consisted of five topic areas, repeated throughout the day, enabling all present to attend each session;

These consisted of; SARMAN, SARCALL and SARLOC, SARDA Dogs and Search, Water Search and Rescue (This session included the use of our SAR Boat), Tracking – Sign and Identification and Introduction to Search Management.

Team members from Rossendale and Pendle MRT, Bolton MRT (Phil Horner), Calder Valley SRT, Holme Valley MRT, Bowland Pennine MRt and Cheshire SART all attended.
