Today our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, alongside such organisations as Anglia TV News, BBC News, and the RAF, was copied in to the ‘Year End Report’ made by Paul Chamberlain, Chairman of Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue Team.
As our regular readers will recall, we have recently assisted Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue Team by donating to them some surplus team kit items now replaced within the Bolton MRT by newer kit items.
The following is an extract from Paul’s excellent year end report to the members of Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue Team, in his introduction Paul states;
“As we approach the end of 2012 I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and commitment to NORLSAR over the last year. It is customary for the chair to produce a report in preparation for the AGM in May, I feel however, we have achieved so much this year as a team that I wanted to take this opportunity to look back at all we have achieved.
I took over as chair in May from Stephen, I want to start this letter by thanking him again for all he has done for NORLSAR, without his enthusiasm, commitment and drive I firmly believe NORLSAR would not exist as it does today. He has moved the team forward in great leaps during his chairmanship and once again I would like to thank him and his wife Gael for everything they have done, and continue to do for us as team.”
In the early part of his report Paul then goes on to state the following kind comments regards their relationship with the Bolton MRT ;
“Following a chance phone call to Mr Garry Rhodes MBE, the team leader of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team and a subsequent visit to their HQ by myself and my two sons on the way to North Wales, to look at the specification of their control trailer as at the time we were considering the specification of such a trailer for our own use, Christmas came early! Over the last five months we have benefitted greatly from the generosity of Garry and all at Bolton MRT. As they have updated their equipment we have been fortunate to receive their surplus equipment. To date we have received two MIBS stretchers, five Dragon search lights, two dragon portable floodlights, a quantity of handheld torches, training materials and two vacmats, I believe we are the only organisation in Norfolk with these. The icing on the cake was the offer of the Bolton Control Trailer, which we hope to bring into service with NORLSAR in the spring of 2013. I know you will all join me in thanking Bolton MRT for their generous support of NORLSAR. This was re-enforced in early December when we were joined by Chris Tennant of Bolton MRT at one of our training sessions. I hope we can continue this alliance in 2013 and I know a number of NORLSAR members are looking forward to organising a visit to our friends in Bolton when we collect the control trailer.”
The Bolton MRT is pleased to assist our colleagues in Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue Team in this manner with free equipment donations, and we wish all at Norfolk LSART a happy and safe festive period.
