On Saturday afternoon, with icy conditions underfoot still prevailing throughout Greater Manchester, NWAS (Manchester) were experiencing a high call volume as a result of falls and slips.

Including our ‘Control’ team, members who volunteered to cater for others having a more active role, and those responding to emergencies, we had twenty three members out throughout the late afternoon and evening.

In total the team responded to four separate calls for NWAS (Manchester)
The first came in to us at 17.55hrs with the last of the four at 19.18hrs.

Locations included Heaton, Halliwell, Great Lever and Leigh, with casualty ages varying from 53 to 85 years old.

Conditions dealt with included confusion, a fall, chest pain and shortness of breath.

We closed down our Base / HQ finally at 23.30hrs once all vehicles had been cleaned, consumables replaced and all four incidents duly recorded.
