Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

1st December 2012

Today the team was honoured to have been invited to attend and provide standby rescue cover and first aid provision for the English Schools’ Athletic Association 32nd Cross Country Cup Final, held at Canon Slade C of E School, Bolton.

This prestigious event hosted by Canon Slade School (Which last staged this event in 2006) saw teams who had qualified through county and regional rounds earlier this term coming together for the national final today.

Canon Slade C of E School provided a very experienced organising team for the event led by Head of PE, Carol Brooking, who is a great supporter of ESAA events.

Also assisting today were Greater Manchester AC, Bolton AC and Horwich Harriers AC.

ASDA provided sponsorship for this event, with ASDA Bolton Store Manager Paul Wilcox and Community Life Champion Christine Baldwin (Both great friends and supporters of Bolton MRT) present representing ASDA.

In total some ninety six schools were represented in the running events today, from all over England, all being met by some excellent Bolton hospitality.

Twenty four Bolton MRT Team Call Out list members attended today, alongside seven of our new Probationary Team members.

We also had on hand all four of our Land Rover Mountain rescue Ambulance vehicles and our Team Minibus Ambulance.

Shortly before the first race commenced at 13.00hrs, the team was called out to a separate unrelated incident at 12.22hrs, meaning two Land Rovers and a small number of team personnel were sent from Canon Slade School to respond to this incident. (See website news report ‘Incident 86/2012’)

Team members at Canon Slade were positioned all around the event courses, complimenting the Event Marshal Teams.

In total during this event the team dealt with thirteen separate incidents requiring our services (Please see website news report Incident 87)

At the conclusion of this event, the team was presented with a very kind £160.00 donation from the event organisers.
