This evening at circa 18.30hrs, whilst en route from our Garage location at GMFRS Bolton Central Fire Station, to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ for the start of our routine weekly Wednesday night training exercise, very experienced Team Call Out list member Alistair Greenough, driving our Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicle, came across a road accident that had just happened, on Gilnow Road, Bolton.

An eleven year old boy had suffered an accident in collision with a car, resulting in suspected head and back injuries.
Fortunately for the child, and just prior to Alistair’s arrival, he was immediately assisted and tended by two passing Doctors (GPs) and a passing Cardiology Technician.

This combined with the fact that Alistair is a full time Accident and Emergency Nurse (Warrington Hospital) meant the child involved received the best possible care very quickly.

The child was splinted appropriately, using equipment from our Team Vehicle, and soon afterwards an NWAS (Manchester) Rapid Response Vehicle and then an NWAS (Manchester) Emergency Ambulance arrived on scene.

The young boy was then placed in to the NWAS Emergency Ambulance and taken to Royal Bolton Hospital.
Two marked and one unmarked GMP Patrol Vehicles also attended this RTC.
