6th May 2014

Tuesday 6th May 2014. .
This evening commencing at 19.00hrs we hosted a visit by four members of Rossendale and Pendle MRT to view our Incident Control Vehicle, which is garaged at GMFRS Bolton Central Fire Station.

The four RPMRT members including Team Leader, Peter Goble, and their Treasurer Mick Fanshawe, were met by our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, Deputy Team Leader Chris Greenhalgh (Our immediate past Equipment Officer – Vehicles) and Steve Fletcher, our Equipment Officer – IT and Communications.

The purpose of the visit by RPMRT, was to view and discuss the internal layout and IT / communications fit of our VW van based Incident Control Vehicle, which we had custom built (Coleman Milne, Westhoughton) and came in to our team operational service in late Spring 2013.

RPMRT have purchased a new Mercedes Van to convert in to a ‘Control Vehicle / Multi use vehicle’ and are now looking at internal fit options for their purchase.

At the conclusion of their ‘inspection’ of our Incident Control Vehicle, our three members present had a look over RPMRTs Toyota HiLuz based Response Vehicle, which they attended in, and represents (Along with similar layout Ford Ranger and Nissan vehicles) a departure from the more usual Land Rover based specialist Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles.
