Today for the second year of its running, the team provided standby rescue cover for the Darwen Leisure Centre Aquathon – Fell Run Section, held over a course taking in Darwen Moor and Jubilee Tower, starting and ending in the vicinity of the Sunnyhurst Inn, Darwen.

Organised by Darwen with Blackburn Council, the race commenced at 12 noon today.

We had fifteen team Call Out list members present, all around the course (which was marshalled by the organisers) in our four Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances and our Incident Control Vehicle.

Twenty six runners and three ‘sweepers’ took part in the event today which was concluded within 45 minutes, in the excellent sunny and dry conditions prevailing.
