Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

At 20.46hrs this still warm evening, we were paged by Lancashire Constabulary regarding an urgent request for the team’s assistance, concerning locating a male, in circumstances giving Police grave concern for his welfare.

Our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE liaised with Police Control, who were also despatching their resources to an area of Appley Bridge, Lancashire.

At 20.56hrs, with some members already at our Base / HQ preparing team vehicles for the required response, a more detailed pager call out message was sent.

Based upon Police information, the likely search area encompassed the (County) boundary between our primary team operational area and that of our colleagues at Bowland Pennine MRT.

Our Team Leader was requested to also contact BPMRT, to formulate an urgent search alongside responding Police resources.

At 21.15hrs we were stood down by Lancashire Constabulary, after the man had been located by Police helicopter NPAS Warton, in a quarry in the vicinity of Lees Lane, Appley Bridge, which then guided in Police Officers to his assistance.

Bowland Pennine MRT were also stood down at this point.

In total at the time of stand down , we had two members responding directly, and nineteen team members at our three Team vehicle locations all about to respond in six of our Team vehicles.

A further six team members were at their home locations about to respond directly in their own transport.
