Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

10th September 2012

The continued valued support of Bury Lions Club and our attendance at the Bury Lions Club Carnival has now become an integral part of the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team calendar. So it was with great anticipation that long serving and very experienced Team member Mark Parry, representing the team, attended the Bury Lions Carnival Charities Presentation Evening, held within the Elizabethan Suite of Bury Town Hall today.

At the invitation of Malcolm Evans and the members of the Bury Lions Club, Mark enjoyed the company of The Worshipful the Mayor of the Bury Metropolitan Borough Joan Grimshaw and the warm welcome of the Lions Carnival Committee.

In a change to this year’s proceedings, the Lions presented certificates to those who had contributed their own time to making the carnival the continued success that it is. Mark Parry would like to add Bolton MRTs thanks, as fellow volunteers we understand the cost and more importantly the enjoyment that volunteering provides. Following this Malcolm then continued on to present the donations to the charities and groups represented in the carnival. Groups as varied as the Army and Navy Cadet forces, dance groups and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were represented and gratefully received donations, these groups also included our colleagues in Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team.

We have the great pleasure to announce that a fantastic donation of £100.00 was made to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team on this evening, and Mark on behalf of the entire team membership would like to thank the Worshipful Mayor of Bury for hosting and presenting the donations, and Malcolm Evans and his Team for allowing us to be part of this incredible annual event. We would also like to extend our thanks to the people of Bury who so generously contribute to the carnival and make it such an delight to be part of. Ultimately every penny goes into serving the communities from where the monies were raised, and continued support like this allows us to build a better service for everyone.
